Welcome to the Grade School Music Program.  At this stage the Applied Music for schools, gets to be fully expressed! Every instrument is treated as a department, and there is now a functioning Music department, co-managed by ReHearsal House personnels and appointed representatives (the older students/staff) of the host school. This Music department, with its own block (comprising of various music class rooms and labs/workshops for the respective instruments) is known as THE FACULTY OF APPLIED MUSIC!

The GDSM (Grade School Musical Curriculum) covers respective music lessons for students from Grade 1 (primary 1) to Grade 12 (SSS 3), and students are required to major in choosen instruments and minor on others, on the basis of their respective capacities, thus the curricula varies for the respective departments listed in this proposal. The number of instruments a student may Major in and Minor in is determined by the FACULTY OF MUSIC.

In music, there is kindred and uniqueness, just as there are generics and families. For clarity, take for instance in the rudiments of music, regardless what family of instruments one is considering, it’ll never change the fact that Melody, Rhythm and Harmony are the 3 Elements of Music, the Semibreve yet remains a “one note in 4 beat values” and there are still rests and dotted notes, etc, these are musical generics. However, the Anatomy of the Piano, yet greatly differs from that of the Violin, and even among two kin instruments, piano performance skills differs from keyboard skills for instance, thus a pianist is unique in his own world and differs from a keyboardist: simply stated, our closest instruments are yet quite unique in themselves, thus musically, the higher we go, the more departmentalized we get! It is on these grounds that the Grade School Musical Curricula takes its “unique toll”

Again the focus is expanded from the MKG years, while we keep building the required skills for the three instincts relevant for outstanding musical performance: ear training, sight reading and intuition (improvisation) and presenting the lessons rather dramatically; the various departments now offer selected subject areas addressing every required skill conceivable (all these have been taken care of in the curriculum).

Once a student is eligible to be enlisted in the Music Faculty (from Grade 1), the student is assigned a Music Club (House), where he takes rehearsals with other members of his Music House, under the supervision of a House Master. Various Music Clubs (Houses) engage others in "Musical Battle: A Musical Challenge between various music houses" from time to time.

NB: RH IS AN APPLIED MUSICAL RESEARCH ACADEMY THEREFORE, THE RH MUSICAL CURRICULA AND PROGRAMS ARE CONSTANTLY BEING UPDATED.

As the program progresses, Some aspects like, sing along & play along, makes way for more advanced needs, while some others like, fingering build ups for piano/keyboard, solmization for ear training, percussive beat boxing for improvisation and rhythm, sight reading for children, remain, though in more advanced details. Furthermore, newer aspects of the discipline are introduced with every new term! And unlike regular subjects’ curriculum, the changes here could come in, at a fresh session or within an on-going session.
