Lesson 1: The Anatomy Of The Piano Keyboard (Video)

The Piano (Keyboard) is one of the easiest Instruments to relate with, at first glance, you find two distinct and simple colors defining component responsible for the production of sounds, that component you have right now been told is referred to as KEYS. Therefore there are two distinct types of key colors: white keys and black keys....

On this Note let us say Welcome to this weekend's Piano Fridays with Mcsnup.

For Those not familiar with Mcsnup, Perfect Mcsnup Success-Ebere is the Chief Musical Educator and Curriculum developer of ReHearsal House Music Academy and Company. That'll suffice for Introducing Mcsnup Today, now let's go straight to today's Piano Fridays with Mcsnup.

RH Media: We have just Introduced the Piano Keys, in the top paragraph, the Piano Keys being distinct in colors, what exactly does that entail?

Mcsnup: It is Important to note that the Keys- White and Black are strictly speaking designative, that is, they represent something! The question then is, what is it that they represent?

RH Media: Yes, what do they represent?

Mcsnup: Yes, the White and Black Keys represent: Sound! Sound has two definite  elements, they are- Pitch and Duration. But the Particular Element of sound which the Keys are representative of is Pitch!

RH Media: Okay... What is Pitch then?

Mcsnup: Pitch is the Element which tells us, how HIGH or LOW the Sound Is... At this point it is needful to say, that ehh... In Music Sounds are called NOTES. Therefore, the Black and White Keys represent Notes of Definite Pitch! And this is where we even begin from to define the Piano Keys, which is what our topic for today is about...

RH Media: Before we proceed... You Mentioned, Duration as the other element of Sound... what does that mean?

Mcsnup: Oh...k... While Pitch is the Vertical so to say component of sound, duration may be said to be the Horizontal (?) hope that did justice to it... This is what I mean... Duration, is how long or short the Note (Sound) is... while Pitch is how high or low the Note (Sound) is... But the keys don't give us the duration, that's got from the piece, from the player... the white and black keys however, give us the Pitch: that is note (sound) of a DEFINITE FREQUENCY.

RH Media: Alrighty... Folks... Piano Fridays Blog with Mcsnup will be back in a while... After a Q and A break from our respective handles: Facebook Page, WhatsApp Group, Telegram Group. Thank You thus for Mcsnup.

Mcsnup: Thanks for having me.
