Musical Directing

MUSICAL DIRECTING  DEPARTMENTS:

 

DIPLOMA MAJORS IN MUSICAL DIRECTING:

A seven semester diploma course in Applied Music with Music Directing majors is available in the Rehearsal House Applied Music program. The Music Directing majors includes, mandatory majors in Musical Directing and Vocal Music with Elective Minors In any other Instruments. For students not having prior backgrounds in music theory, a two to three weeks preliminary course- “a basic course in the language of music” precedes this program.

3. Payment of 7,500NGN for Course Registration.

4. Payment of Preliminary And First Semester fees and Commencement of Training (Prelims and First Semester is 11 weeks).


PROGRAM LEVEL I


Basic course in Language of music: Preliminary.


Duration: 3 Weeks 

Main courses: Introduction to the Language of music, Basic Rudiments of music theory, introductory course on an Elective Minor Program, etc.


Program Category: Foundational.

 

First Semester:

Duration: 8 weeks

Main courses: Solmization and Ear training, Applied Musicology, sight reading for piano performance, piano anatomy and melodious exercises, introductory musical scales, musical directing: first principles, etc.

 

Category: Beginner

Tuition: 75,000NGN (With Prelims).

Second semester:

Duration: 8 weeks

Test of Applied Music 1: 1,500NGN.

Recitals: 1,000NGN/Instruments.

PROGRAM LEVEL II

First semester:

Duration: 9 weeks

Main courses: Solmization and Ear training, Applied Musicology, Language of Music, sight reading for piano performance, piano performance technique and chord anatomy, musical scales on the minor keys, keyboard skills, standard scores for ear training, history and philosophy of Music, musical Directing, etc.

 

Category: Intermediate

Tuition: 60,000NGN.

Second Semester:

Duration: 9 weeks

Main courses: Solmization and Guerrilla Ear training, Applied Musicology, Language of Music, fundamentals of Melody, rudiments of rhythm, sight reading for piano performance, piano performance technique and chord anatomy, other musical scales, advanced keyboard techniques, improvisational skills, genres of music, standard scores for ear training, history and philosophy of Music, musical directing, etc.

Recitals: 1,000NGN/Instrument.

2nd test of applied music (TAM): 1,500NGN.

Tuition: 60,000NGN.
