Let's Talk Music

Introducing LET'S TALK MUSIC 2DAY.

Hello and welcome to Let's talk Music 2Day.

There's one element in the definition of Music which I would love to talk about Today, and here it is:

"Music is the MOST SUBLIME arrangement of  sounds..."

Now that definition forms the opening statement of the ReHearsal House philosophy of Music, and it is just that aspect that I want to speak about in LET'S TALK MUSIC 2DAY!

Let's get it straight, there's a vast difference between the mood expected in a wedding feast and that anticipated in a funeral. O yes! Even two birthday parties, would have their "unique shades", these shades reflect more than the ceremonies themselves, but the hosts' et al personalities in the wider scope, what does this have to do with our Let's Talk Music 2day Topic? Here it is:

"You don't have the most sublime arrangement of those sounds yet, if it does not yet fully satisfy its purpose..."

What do we mean? Simply, a most sublime arrangement of a Christmas piece, should combine sounds in such a manner that "captures the Christmas mood!" yes, even Christmas has got its own mood! One shouldn't attend a funeral and feel like in a "jazz gig" nor should one attend a marriage feast and feel so in a "dirge". Placing things where they ought to be, merging sounds as they ought to merge: that is to fit into the purpose of the work...

Many arrangers of Music miss this out totally today, a song can be so "brilliantly" arranged and yet be completely unreflective of the mood it is meant to serve...

Therefore it is very important that those under training in Musicianship, take at least a course in Musical Composition and Interpretation as well as a course on Interpretation of Genres and Moods of Music.

Test Question:
What mood(s) May be reflective of a Christmas piece?
