Concerning Our Courses 2

About Program 1 Stage 2:

from requisite skills to introductory performances...Fingering, Coordination, Ear Training, Sight-reading, Language of Music, Breathing, Instinctiveness, Posture, etc, though already learnt, but yet needs to keep growing! At This stage the Repertoire starts to count...stage 2 is also known as the "012 phase" because here students must complete amongst other things:

Diatonic Major scales for 12 keys
Pentatonic Major scales for 12 keys
12 preparatory exercises
12 Melodious Practice Exercises
12 score sheet Repertoire

Duration: 12 weeks.

What to expect:

The second stage of RH Applied Music gets quite busy, lectures are more advanced than at stage 1, now the basics of Sight-reading moves up-to to more active aspects: time signatures, key signatures, rests, dotted notes and all what the student needs to start playing rudimentary and preparatory exercises from their respective score sheets (which varies with every department) has to be covered immediately, this we do in the first two sessions of stage 2, remember, it is "phase 012", which leaves us with less than 12 weeks, to complete 12 preparatory sheet music exercises and 12 score sheet repertoire, not to mention other aspects of the program!

Stage 2 is quite some "busy bee" mode, and we have just about 3 months to complete a lot, not just theoretically, but practically! Yes, this is because, stage 2 is the first Public Recitals! Every student, would perform on their respective instruments on Recitals, so, yes, everything seems to be happening quite at a speed from now on, but so does the fun! One interesting moment is quickly replaced by another, almost as though, there's not allocated time to celebrate a new find! Since we use original curricula and techniques (exclusive to the house), old students for instance, would find the same lectures they took part of just one month ago, looking like, something they'd never heard, yet, could scent the familiarity, and just smile...

In stage 2, every student must complete/participate in addition to 10 sessions of lectures and 10 sessions of workshops from their respective departments:

A Seminar on Ear Training

10 sessions on the applications of Music Theory

10 sessions on Sight reading.

Dress rehearsal for Recitals

Band sessions

Recitals

Plus, the special session on SPOKEN WORD MUSIC, which features in stage 2...and older students are permitted to participate as featured guests.... This comes up, at about session 8, Every student regardless what departments take part in the SPOKEN WORD MUSIC week.

As interesting as stage 2 is, we have to move on to stage 3, however, a student must complete all the pre-requisite for stage 3 before they may be granted access into the third stage of the Applied Music Programs of ReHearsal House.
