-18 Months Diploma– 4 Skill Levels + Certification

LEVEL 1 – Foundational 

Focus:Classical Guitar Basics & Technique  

What to Expect:

- Introduction to classical guitar anatomy & parts  

- Rest stroke vs free stroke technique  

- Reading standard notation (no tabs)  

- Basic open-position melodies  


Outcome: Foundation in technique, tone, and proper form

LEVEL 2 – 1st Degree Beginner 

Focus: Technique Development & Classical Repertoire  

What to Expect:

- Arpeggios and simple etudes  

- Left-hand/right-hand coordination  

- Intro to classical pieces (Carulli, Sor, etc.)  

- Finger independence drills  


Outcome: Student capable of playing beginner-level repertoire musically

LEVEL 3 – 2nd Degree Beginner

Focus: Interpretation & Musical Expression  

What to Expect:

- Dynamics, tone variation, legato & staccato articulation  

- Early composition and arrangement exercises  

- Sight-reading short pieces  

- Playing duets with instructor or peers  

Outcome: Expressive playing and entry into ensemble work

LEVEL 4 – Intermediate + Internship I

Focus: Ensemble & Real-World Application  

What to Expect:

- Play in string ensemble or small group  

- Intern in teaching programs or studio  

- Begin transcribing and interpreting classical scores  

- Study of historic classical composers  

Outcome: Practical musician with growing classical depth

LEVEL 5 – 2nd Degree Intermediate  

Focus: Artistic Refinement & Composition  

What to Expect: 

- Develop personal recital pieces  

- Original compositions or classical reinterpretations  

- Study technique of classical masters (e.g. Tarrega, Villa-Lobos)  

- Stage presence coaching  

Outcome: Performer with identity and artistic direction

LEVEL 6 – Transition Phase I  

Focus: Application in Music Therapy & Worship  

What to Expect:

- Intro to therapeutic use of classical guitar  

- Classical music for worship settings  

- Begin mentorship of beginner students  

- Studio arrangement techniques

Outcome: Artist equipped for applied, service-based music work

LEVEL 7 – Transition Phase II

Focus: Advanced Interpretation & Fingerstyle Mastery  

What to Expect:  

- Play works by Bach, Giuliani, and modern classical composers  

- Use of advanced fingerstyle and harmonics  

- Participate in RH Classical Masterclass Series  

- Continued internship and teaching assistant experience  

Outcome: Performer and mentor capable of teaching and leading ensembles

LEVEL 8 – Transition Phase III

Focus: Public Performance & Music Literacy  

What to Expect:

- Public classical performances  

- Notation transcription & score interpretation  

- Involvement in school concerts and showcases  

- Final recital prep  

Outcome: Professional-level readiness and artistic confidence

LEVEL 9 – Final Transition + Showcase

Focus: Certification & Industry Exposure  

What to Expect:

- Final TAM (Test of Applied Music)  

- Performance portfolio & student project  

- Auditions, workshops, and networking  

- Job/internship placement with RH partners  


Outcome: Certified Classical Guitarist with career options in teaching, performance, therapy, or composition
