The Music Business Department at House-University is where creativity meets commerce. Designed to prepare students for the real world of the music industry, this department equips learners with the tools to navigate, lead, and innovate in a fast-changing global music economy.
From record label operations to artist management, distribution, publishing, A&R, marketing, tour logistics, and rights management, students are immersed in the full cycle of music business operations. Learning is deeply practical—students work closely on real-life music projects, manage artist platforms, coordinate media releases, plan concerts, and execute EP/album campaigns.
This department is foundational to our goal of building not just skilled artists, but empowered professionals who can own, manage, and redefine the business side of music. COURSES UNDER THE MUSIC BUSINESS DEPARTMENT
The following courses are designed to equip students with strong artistic, technical, and administrative capacity within the music industry. These offerings combine academic training with hands-on industry simulation via RH’s Artist Platform Management and in-studio programs.

Focuses on vocal and performance techniques for studio recordings. Students work on singles, EPs, and full albums, preparing for both independent and label-oriented careers.
Independent Recording Artistry
Tailored for self-managed artists, this course includes production, songwriting, branding, and digital distribution strategies, enabling students to fully create, release, and promote their own music.
Music Production & Audio Engineering
Provides hands-on training in DAWs (e.g., FL Studio, Cubase, Ableton Live), studio operations, mixing & mastering, and production workflows used in both commercial and independent music spaces.
Musical Directing
Teaches leadership in music arrangement, rehearsals, and live band coordination. Students learn to lead worship sets, concerts, and studio sessions, blending musical skill with organizational strategy.
Orchestration
This course focuses on arranging for large ensembles, bands, or orchestras. Students learn the language of instrumentation, ensemble writing, and the practicalities of directing and rehearsing scored music.
Explores the structure and operations of music businesses—label management, finance, publishing, distribution, contracts, and strategic planning. Prepares students for executive and entrepreneurial roles.
Covers the day-to-day and strategic oversight of an artist’s career. Topics include branding, bookings, tour logistics, media handling, legal frameworks, and release campaigns.
Therapeutic Musicology
Bridges music and mental health, introducing students to the therapeutic use of music in clinical, community, and faith-based settings. Includes hands-on exposure to music therapy sessions.
Orchestration for Theatrical Musicals & Film Scoring
Specialized training in composing and arranging for stage and screen. Students develop scoring techniques, mood-setting, and timing aligned with script and visual cues.
Indie Recording Artistry, Songwriting & Scriptwriting
An interdisciplinary course combining songwriting, narrative writing, and performance. Prepares students to develop unique projects such as concept albums, musicals, or music-driven stage productions.
Instrumentation
A practical course in learning and understanding core instruments from each major family: Keys, Strings, Woodwinds, Brass, Percussion, and Synths. Students are trained in basic technique, timbre recognition, notation, and live/studio application. The course is tailored to equip future producers, directors, and composers with a well-rounded sense of how instruments function individually and within an ensemble—vital for scoring, arranging, and leading live or recorded performances.
